"In God have I put my trust:
I will not be afraid what man can do unto me."
I will not be afraid what man can do unto me."
BACKGROUND/COMMENTARY: according to Chuck Smith (blueletterbible.org), verse 11 needs to be considered in the context of the verses preceding it, specifically this phrase: "this I know; for God is with me." Or, "God is for me." that is one of the most important concepts of God that we need to remember: God is for us. So many times we picture God as being against us. We see God as just waiting for us to do something wrong, in order that He might smite us with His swift hand of justice. We think of God so often as being against us, opposed to us. But in reality, God is for us. And if God be for us, who can be against us? Therefore, it is important that we have the right concepts of God.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: As we enter a new year, this verse is one that I am claiming from the Lord. Dan and I are getting ready for another life change. Relocating to a small town in rural Palawan to do something that we have never done before (start a Bible School) seems daunting at times, but since we know that God is leading us there and has given us this desire to help the pastors, church leaders and churches in that area of Palawan, we will move forward with confidence, expecting God to bless as He guides us one step at a time...
So, this promise from God that He is for us helps to allay the fears that the enemy sends our way and will be the lifeline that we will cling to as we prepare for the challenges that we know lie ahead.
