Living in Palawan... Part 1

i guess it's time for me to document our new life here in Palawan...

We arrived in Puerto Princesa on August 30, 2017. Balad Paraiso met us at the airport driving the Mitsubishi Strada that was donated to TEMI by Dan's brother, Capt Ephraim Lacanilao.
This pick-up truck would take us on many interesting trips in just a short span of time... and Balad would be part of those adventures since he's the one who drives us back and forth on those bi-monthly trips to Puerto.

The apartment where we are currently staying is on the 3rd floor of the JEO Building in Brooke's Point. The building is located on the main drag of Brooke's Point, M. Rodriguez Street. The first floor of the building is currently occupied by an LBC office, a travel agency which also sells frozen chicken (!), and a lending company. The whole building belongs to Jean Ordinario, the sister of Dan's sister-in-law, Myrna, who is married to Dan's oldest brother, Sam. Jean has never even see the apartment. It was basically built for us.

Here's the story behind that:  The original plan was for Dan and I to live with Sam and Myrna in their family home which was located just across the street from Brooke's Point Christian High School But, in June, they decided to sell the property to a businessman who plans to erect a Jollibee and a Caltex gas station in that location. Sam and Myrna's new house would be located on their farm, a 10 minute drive away from the town proper.

Neither Sam nor Myrna told us about this. If they had, we would have postponed our relocation to Brooke's Point until their new house was ready. (At this time, the anticipated completion date of December 24 for the new house is not going to be met... ) Because we had no idea this was happening, we went ahead with our original plan to come to Palawan in August. Because the old house was being demolished, they had to scramble to find us a place to live! That's how this cute little, one-bedroom apartment has come to be our first home here in Brooke's Point...

God is really good! We are not paying rent. We just have to take care of the utilities.
Because we had shipped our things from Cebu back in 2014, we were able to furnish the apartment in record time with the stuff from our previous life. We only had to buy small appliances like a microwave, rice cooker, toaster oven, and hot pot in Puerto.
After 5 years of living with our kids, it's nice to once again have a place of our own...
