FEAR NOT for January 10, 2016
GENESIS 50:21 "Now therefore, do not fear: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them."
BACKGROUND: These words were spoken by Joseph to his brothers after the death of their father Jacob where he (Joseph) promised that he (Joseph) would continue to help out his family, especially the young ones, the children of his brothers.
COMMENTARY by Jamieson, Fausset & Brown from blueletterbible.org: Joseph was deeply affected by this communication (verse 15 to 20). He gave them the strongest assurances of his forgiveness and thereby gave both a beautiful trait of his own pious character, as well as appeared an eminent type of the Saviour.
PERSONAL APPLICATION: Once again, we are brought face-to-face with someone -- JOSEPH -- who truly exemplified the love of God, especially to those who have hurt him very badly in the past. Joseph is a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ who continued to love even when He was being put to death on the cross.
